Guesthouse FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Your guide to a seamless stay at Laekur Hostel & Guesthouse

  • What is the best way to get from the airport to Lækur Hostel & Guesthouse?

We recommend booking FLYBUS PLUS transfer all the way to Lækur Hostel. This is the most convenient option, as it stops right in front of our hostel when you book the FLYBUS "plus" option.

FLYBUS is connected with all arriving and departing flights, so even if your flight is early, late, or delayed, there will be a FLYBUS waiting for you.
Departure from the airport is always flexible. For round trip you can choose your departure time from the hostel when booking the transfer online.

If you have already FLYBUS+ tickets and need to register pick up, please fill the form online on the page https://www.re.is/purequest or send email to main@re.is. In this email include your ticket number, pickup day and time, the number of passengers, and your full name. Be sure to mention that the pickup is from Lækur Hostel. Pick up point is in front of the hostel entrance.

The taxi price is approximately 20 000 ISK (approx. 131 EUR / 145 USD) and the taxis are available just outside the terminal building.

  • Can I leave my luggage before the check-in time?

Unfortunately, we don't have luggage storage, so we cannot keep luggage before check-in or after check-out. There are luggage lockers available across Reykjavik. The nearest one is located at Reykjavik Campsite, an 8-minute walk from us. More information here: www.luggagelockers.is

  • Do you have lockers? What is the size of lockers?

Yes, you can use lockers in the corridor for free, but remember to bring your own padlock. The diameter of the shackle should be no more than 5mm. If you don't have a padlock, you can buy one at the café on the ground floor (approx. EUR 5, subject to availability) or at nearby shops. The locker dimensions are 35 cm x 35 cm x 70 cm.

  • Can I store my bicycle or bike box at the hostel / guesthouse?

Unfortunately we don't have bike storage facilities. However, we recommend checking this link for alternative options: https://www.luggagelockers.is/bike-storage.html

  • I am planning to arrive early in the morning. What can I do?

The check in time starts at 3pm (15:00).

If you arrive earlier, you can spend time in the café Laekur on the ground floor of the building. Opening hours: Sunday, Monday: 10am - 10pm; Tuesday - Saturday: 10am - 11pm. Kitchen is open: 11am - 9pm. Holiday hours may differ.

You can explore our surroundings and learn about nearby attractions. Read more about our location - and things to do around here: www.laekur.is/location. Alternatively, you can book one of our day tours or consider the Hop On Hop Off bus for a convenient way to discover the city. Bookings can be made at  - https://laekur.tourdesk.is

If you arrive very early, we would suggest to book an additional night in advance, so you can access your room upon arrival and have a rest.

  • I am going to arrive late. Is it a problem?

No, it’s not a problem, as we will arrange a self-check-in using access codes. Just ensure that your reservation is fully paid.

  • Do you provide bed linen and towels?

Yes, bed linen is included in your room rate. You do not need to bring your own, and we do not allow the use of sleeping bags or personal bed linen.

  • Are there laundry facilities?
